Laguna Seca

Take two bored English lads, a credit card and a few beers and you end up with a San Francisco to Vegas road trip stopping at Laguna Seca.

The car we used (Possibly the worst car in the world....) Although it did have a HUD!

Sadly after that photo we had some trouble with the law. The speed limit is enforced by aircraft and 95 in a 45 (Even if the road is in the arsehole of now where and arrow straight) is frowned upon.....

Ah well. On to Seca. We got there very last so there were only a few cars going round.

The cars - Seems the US likes E36's and MX-5's...

The corkscrew is f**king epic by the way!

Epic fail for not actually getting on the track at all, but sounds like a fun roadtrip anyway.

I got a similar issue with the police (although I was in a mustang not a camaro).

I got issued with a fine, and I paid it by credit card after returning to the uk.

From what I could work out, if you dont pay it they wont chase it up over here, but they will arrest you on the spot the next time you set foot in the US as obviously they have your passport number etc.

NICE! I will drive Laguna Seca before I die, I remember watching MotoGP and the bloke held a spirit level perfectly horizontal at the corkscrew and the gradient is immense.

Knocking the Camero for being a bad drive?

You'd still have shown 11's to the MX-5!

Good road trip though, makes me want to do a PROPER Cannonball run, sea-to-shining-sea, dressed as a preist in a red ferrari.

Speed limit enforced by aircraft ? :S

In California, the CHP uses a fixed-wing aircraft to measure vehicle speed between two, marked points on the ground and determine speed. Our aircraft don't use radar or lidar for this, but a pacing method.

After determing a vehicle(s) speed, the aircraft radios down to unit waiting on an on-ramp up ahead. For example, he'll say, "Red pick up in #1 lane is good for 85 mph...he's passing your location right now." The unit jumps out and gets behind the red pick up in the #1 (or if the subject vehicle moves, the aircraft simply tells the ground unit where he went). The pilot confirms the ground unit is behind the correct vehicle, and he makes the stop. The ground unit is the citing officer and the observer in the plate is the arresting officer.

We have the same sort of markings on the roads over here and they can be used by police helicopters, they just generally arent as its too expensive.

Thats what those big white squares you drive over on the motorway are, they can be used from the air, or from a vehicle using vascar.
