Lambda Probe - Decat Question

  Focus RS Mk1
Hi all. As soon as the 182 arrives with me this coming week/weekend I will be looking to upgrade the exhaust. Standard at the moment.

Car already has a ITG filter, im happy with that setup. Want to avoid removing the standard air filter system if i can.

My question being. Does the 182 have a up and down stream Lambda probe, eg pre and post cat?

Ive read in a few posts that some have had their "engine light" come on. This could be avoided by a Llambda sleeve? Anyone used one of these.

A well known technique used in the Saxo world (im an ex owner)

You utilise the pre cat probe which reads as normal and the post cat Lambda goes into the sleeve and reads cleaner air, which fools the ecu in thinking the cat is still in place. Thus stopping the ECU bringing up a fault.

Havent read anything about them being used on Clio's?

If it hasnt been tryed them i shall give it a go :)

Been tried lots of times and yes blanking the 2nd lambda will stop the fault being registered

Enjoy the car, get a set of eibachs on it for sure!

has eibach springs at the mo. found them a little too soft for my liking.

Will be swapping for a set of coilovers shortly too :)

Unsure which to go for but will cross that bridge when i come to it :)

Mine is plugged in but there is no boss in my exhaust. So it just sits tied up under the car.

I get the orange light once a month for about 2-3 days.

i think the sleeve will solve your problem then mate ^ because it readin 100% fresh air the ecu recognises that and flashes it up. if it fits in the sleeve its sealed up iirc!

Could anyone tell me its like swapping the exhaust on a clio 182?

on my saxo it was uber easy...i noticed they go over the rear beam on the clio...is that going to cause me problems?

ive got a gmc sleeve on my 2nd lambda on my 106 and the engine management light is still on, its not a gauranteed fix :)

Ive changed my exhaust and cat and found it rather easy

The hardest bit for me was takin the lambda outa the cat :)

So nothing special i need to do or take note of for these exhausts. nice easy swap over then. good!

Engine light would come on for more than one reason with the TU engine.

yeah there a nightmare to get out. Try getting one out a old manifold thats rusty can end up just breaking the mani quite easily

Bump...

Going on the first post, would I blank up the hole in my decat, and then just secure the lambda under the car somewhere and it would read clean air?
