Lambda Sensor Replacement

I am trying to replace the pre cat lambda sensor on my clio and have purchased this socket to do the job:

The problem is that the oxygen sensor is a bit too big for the socket. Is there any other way I can remove the lambda sensor?
The car in question is a 2000 1.2 clio mark II.
