Searched for this and couldn't find it, so fingers crossed it's not a Re...

Nasty, but thankfully the driver was ok!

Damn maybe the tire!.. Ooor Lambo at 200 MPG plus Parachute deployed on a car not design to use one at that speed! 100% Change in aerodynamics = Fail.. Anyways Its good to hear the guy walk away.. Kudos for wearing all the safety gear! And poor car oh well..

You know a) nothing about aerodynamics and b) nothing about that car. Apart from that you know exactly what you're talking about.

200mpg is pretty good though?

Apparently the strong cross winds caught the parachute as it opened putting a sideways pull on the car. This would seem to tie up with what can be seen in the video. I actually wonder how much of a braking zone there was as you'd assume a well modified car such as that would've had pretty decent brakes on it anyway.

Jebus.

The rolling probably saved him .. energy dissapation and all that.... Bodies don't like very sudden stops.

Lucky sonova beech though !

was just thinking whilst wathching the vid, that there sounded to be a strong wind blowing, wouldnt be ideal doing a top speed run with a parachute in those sort of winds

Would a cross wind affect a parachute that much?

Could of been anything I suppose, crosswind, bump in the road at the braking point, fault with the car etc. Or a combination.

I think the chute totally fucked up the car.If you think about it the car is covered inspoilers and diffusers and then BANG,suddenly the equivelent of half a tonne of downfoarce is removed from the stuck down rear end.
Maybe right,probably wrong...lol

Taken from another website.....
""Underground Racing built this Twin Turbo Gallardo to go one mile racing. It was making just shy of 2000rwhp. At the Texas Mile, on October 23rd, 2010, they were attempting to set a new record. The driver went through the traps at just under 240mph. When he pulled the chute, the back of the car got loose causing the car to exit the track to the right.""
