iPad is probably the best idea tbh! Just make sure they are aware about the things you can't do on it (webcam, burning discs, printing stuff without the right printer, saving stuff to USB memory sticks)

My granddad used mine and was chuffed with it. Going out to buy one instead of using his laptop!
