Laptop randomly turns itself off...

Car  Mondeo STTDCI
Its a Fujitsu Siemens and is about 2 years old. I reckon it might be overheating or something.

Any ideas?

I've no warranty so might be best to just plump for a new one. its only a £500 number

Thanks

is it an amilo by any chance?

they are prone to overheating. i have one and have retired it from action because i got to sick of the overheating problems.

Yup its an Amilo. If they overheat do they just shut off?

Any simple way to solve it?

also at the back of the laptop there are grills where air blows out, when the laptop is on and the fans are blowing, blow into those holes really hard, u will notice the dust and crap start to come out. repeat until no more crap comes out.

my 2 year old vaio was the same for ages, then i done that ^^ u should have seen the lumps of crap that flew out, i got myself a cooling pad and blow it every now and then and its been fine ever since.

where is the laptop when its going off?

i was fixing a mates, and i had it on my bed and it was doing the same, due to sinking into the bed slightly and not getting enough air!
