Laptop Upgrade

  Punto/Clio GTT
my gf is on about getting a new laptop as hers is very sluggish

spec is a 1.6ghz dual core intel
1gb ram
onboard graphics
vista home

basically it takes an age to load anything up, firefox/wordpad etc.

would throwing an extra gig of ram in really do anything or is it simply down to a slow processor/lack of graphics card.

i dont really wanna spend £30 on ram to find it didnt do anything.

also, should i just buy a second identical 1gb ram and put it in or is it best to try source a cheap 2gb stick?

  Better than yours. C*nt.
What laptop is it? Can it take 2 sticks? 2x2GB would do it wonders. 1.6GHz isn't going to set the world on fire but I've run Vista fine on worse!

If the CPU is only single core then thats your problem. No amount of RAM is going to make that much impact if thats the case.

If your correct the CPU is dual core than deffinately upgrade to 2GB of RAM. Vista hogs RAM at the best of times so the more the better.
