Large sparks from exhaust lol

Has anyone else experienced this?

Was out driving the other nite (enthusiastically I mite add) and when slowing up for a roundabout got the lovely eggy smell that was a very hot CAT,

looked in my rear view mirror and see a massive spark/molten lump (like someone throwing a fag out) go flying up from the rear! Pulled over after the roundabout and everything seems fine! Just smelt very 'warm'

This happened again last nite as one of my mates following said he see it but thought it was a fag from the car in front of me!

Possibly CAT breaking down?

that sounds interesting, sounds like it could be the cat as that's the only section of exhaust with internals, decat time!?

Get under and tap the cat with a mallet or something, it shouldn't rattle I'd it does take it off and check

I was thinking of decatting anyways, just didn't want it too loud tho :S can't have it all ways tho lol

I'll get it on a ramp at work tomorrow and check, hopefully it'll be okay to still use for MOT's. I'll check the emissions tomorrow too

Anybody know what a milltek with decat sounds like?

Possibly the cat or maybe chunks of the back box/silencer if its has one's wadding/muffling deteriorating and catching fire as it fires out? Just a random suggestion thats probably wrong :rasp:

It's got a de-silenced milltek cat back so it shouldn't be any of that lol

Maybe it is just the CAT, better get that off soon before I have to spend a fortune on a new one for MOT's lol

beat me to it ^^^all though it is rare for the 182 cats to do this. but according to a few on here it has.

Nah it's not itb'd mate, it's standard with a milltek cat back, but has an enlarged cat outlet (deans old car - AO05 TYF)
