Lcd Computer on 172

Hi have a funny with my computer if you can call it that...normally when I turn the ignition on it shows me the oil level in squares for a few seconds, but sometimes it goes straight to millage reading and even turning the ignition on or off running the car or anything else wont show the oil level again if I forget about it for a few hours or the next morning its back showing the oil level again...anyone else had this or seen this problem ? ...

Mine (also 2002) just said "Oil OK". it would only show me the squares if I pushed the computer button.

Does it on mine i think its normal, maybe its related to the oil temprature.

I stand corrected it does say OIL OK and then shows the squares when you push the button...but what I meant was quite often it bypasses that part the (OIL OK) and goes straight to millage etc... doesnt make any difference if its hot or cold..

On startup first thing in the morning it always shows the Oil check. During the day if your stop/starting the car it doesnt always do it.

It needs to have been left long enough for all the oil to collect back into the sump otherwise it wont be able to take an accurate reading.

it dosent show if you have cruise control or the speed limiter activated.

2002 172 will not have Cruise control or speed limit, only late 2003/2004 models have it.

Doin it again this morning...went out turned the key and it comes up with current milage just bypasses the oil level bit....very weird..
