leaking oil from gearbox area

  clio dci, vw passat tdi
Hi,

I have a 2003 clio dci and i noticed there is quite a bit of oil dripping from around the gearbox area near where it joins the engine block, I cant find the exact area where its leaking from as there is quite a bit of oil and hard to identify where its coming from. The car still runs perfect and gears are smooth.

Just wondered if anyone had a simular problem and can give any advice, and if its going to be an expensive garage job?

Thanks!

Which engine 65/80/100? If its gearbox oil then I imagine its leaking out of the input shaft seal but i'd expect the clutch to be slipping as well though.

Its a dci 65, just had it on the ramps and its not gearbox oil its engine oil! As i smelt a bit of gearbox oil and its totally diffrent to the engine oil which is leaking.

I managed to trace where its coming from but im not sure what it is, its on the right rear of the block half way down the engine and it looks like an injector nut/bolt with a metal pipe going in to it that runs across the back of the engine, the nut is tight and i cant see how its leaking! but it seems to be seeping out where the pipe goes in to the bolt and only when the engine is running.. Do these bolts have a seal inside them? Maybe the seal has perished or something!?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!
