leather treatment ?

is it possible to 'over feed' leather?
ive just got a newish car wich has leather in (my old car was leather too) but im not sure if the previous owner has ever treated the leather. When ive applied the stuff it gets absorbed really quickly, so i want to apply a few more treatments. But im worried that i could over feed the leather?? if its possible?

Most new leather finishes are coated so it won't allow you to treat it like you could older natural finishes. Worth doing a search on here as Weeman posted some good info about it.

so, back to my original question... its not possible over treat the leather then?

Saddle soap, been using it for years.

Not ideal for modern coated leathers so I understand.

Weekly wipe downs with a damp microfiber.

Conditon once every 3 - 6 months with Zaino Z10 Conditioner

Clean once or twice year with Einzett Leather Cleaner and then condition.

The great myth about leather is that it should be smooth and shiny.

I cant see the point in having leather in a car that is so uniform and coated with chemicals, that it looks just like plastic.

Leather is a natural material, it "breathes" so you need to keep it supple, and Saddle Soap is a good way of doing that.

Applied as per the instructions, it lifts the dirt off the surface, out of the pores and it feeds the hide.

That will prevent the surface from cracking, protect it from the Sun and keep the colour, but more importantly, it looks natural.

I do mine perhaps once a month, and just wipe it over with a damp, soft cloth in between. Ive never had a seat crack.

Alot of these so called leather cleaners / conditioners do fcuk all tbh . Like rich says , a wipe down with a moist microfibre cloth will clean just as just good as bought cleaner . Thats also what i was advised by a guy who did a repair on 172's seat . He also does full retrims and he said that on most automotive seats the conditioners just lie on top of the leather actually attracting or holding dirt rather than soaking into the leather . You probably don't notice it as much on grey leather as you would on white or cream leather .

Having said that i still use some from time to time . The current one i use is the Buffalo Leather Essence Conditioner .

I hate any products that make it look glossy and shiny thats why I stopped using the Autoglym.

The Einszett and Zaino both leave a factory look.
