Mk4 Escort (no classic) nothing sporty about it just could feel everything happeneing at the wheels chnaged a tyfor a cheap replacemtn and could instantly tell which tyre it was that it was low on pressure and how far it could take it. CLio almost devoil of any feeling.edde, have you thought about changing the bushes to the poly ones, or if you wanted ultimate feel then would full on rose-jointing or whatever it's called not be beneficial?
Basically taking all the 'slack' out the system?
Or you could upgrade the whole setup to a 172 Cup version?
I don't know how your escort drove (I'm guessing mk1 or mk2?) but I don't think any modern car is going to come close to the feel of older good cars!
And does the diesel have electric rack or anything, as my valver has wonderful steering feel even with PAS.
think you've found your problem in the diesel clio with electric rack.
I know just trying to go one step ahead.wasnt suggesting you swap it all, just that you've found your problem.
Could you swap to a non-PAS quick rack?
I agree with Ben about the valvers - mine feels great with a Willy setup
whats this obcession with the vag lump?
its s**t!
Any turbo you can boost on stock parts to 400bhp, hell the 2jz can take 1000bhp on a stock bottom end.
It does seem to be the easiest and most reliable way to get silly power though!whats this obcession with the vag lump?

I'm not a petrol head. VAG 1.9 TDI would be my choice.
Can get injectors for it cheap the gearbox is decinet plus it can run on cheap oil plus its cheaper to fix than modern high pressure diesel no need to throw away all the pipes when you chnage an injector.
Ben I know that your expertiese lies with Renault and Honda engine but could you port a cylinder head for a diesel much the same same theoretical ideas isn't it? I'm not sure who specilaises in diesel head work etc most would just wack the boost up and accept the stock head casting is there much to be gained from an 8V diesel head or do you need to keep more meat in the head for strenght?

Well, somebody really doesnt like us, do they !!

I like you
I just basically wouldn't take anyones advice on here. With due respect, there are literally about three people out of the hundreds of members who know what they are talking about.
Ask about car setup on here and you get no replies, talk about beating Scoobies and a tarmac scrapping stance and you get 5 pages...
How you like a car to handle is individual preference, if you don't know what you want then you haven't reached your own or your car's abilities.
The real problem is subjective and ill informed opinions.
They arent made out of the best materials, they dont emply tig welds, and other show factors, simply because they dont have to.

We are a fairly small company, but we have been going for over 30 years, and that doesn't happen through sheer luck. Our performance can be measured in many ways, including hundreds of motorsport competition results, and due to the fact that many of our customers have come back to us time and time again over the years - they have a choice, but they do come back.
I am very proud of what we do at Leda, if you don't like us, fine. You too have a choice, but I can do without the slagging off thanks.
Kind regards
