great chat, I love playing with techniques but lets face it on the road there should be little use for these things.....unless you like to drive fast. I know that none of us like to to that.

Double de-clutching maybe not, as said above 99.999% of cars now have a syncromesh - but there is definitely a use for heel/toe changing on the road in a modern car. If everyone did it, clutch manufacturers would go out of business.
Heel and toe downshifts are
not about going fast, it's about being smooth, and not abusing your clutch. Think about how hot your brakes get when slowing the car. By not heel/toe changing, you're putting a lot of that heat directly into the clutch by slipping it as you change down.
Racing/track drivers happen to use the technique because the smoothness helps keep the car balanced, which gives them more grip and ultimately a higher speed and lower lap time.
