Less responsive brakes when the roads are very wet?

Just wanting a bit of advice on this dodgy issue my car seems to have.

As per the title really the brakes seem to perform really crap in the wet and the pedal feels a little hard sometimes. First noticed it after driving through a big puddle which made them really bad and they barely worked when I tried to stop.

They still work reasonably well but there's definitely a difference and last thing I want is for them to completely fail when I'm not expecting it.

Driving through a puddle will make your brakes shite! That's why your supposed to do some light braking after a puddle to remove the water before picking up speed.

Yeah I know I just didn't think at the time.

Will it also make them a bit s**t if the roads are very wet then?
