Let my Girlfriend Move the Cup Last Night....

  Cup 172
...And almost cried as she revved it so hard while slipping the clutch, that she actually got it into the VVT zone...

Your a very brave man

My gf is doing her test soon and has mentioned getting insured on my 172 when she passes.

Let me think......mmmmm I don't think so!

i let me girlfriend dirve my 182 on this old airfield

it was pretty scary!
i ended up shouting at her telling her she cant drive and shes never gonna pass her test unless a miracle happens. lol

I let mine have a go the other week on the way home from a party and she loved it. She had offered to drive so that I could drink.

She has a habit of changing gear at 3-4000 revs as she doesn't want to hurt the engine in her 205..... It was probably down to the drinking previously, but I thought that it would be a really good idea to let her floor it as I wanted to feel what it was like in the passenger seat.

It ended up with me telling her when to change gear as she did not want to take her eyes off the road,

first, vrooom, "CHANGE!"
second, vrooooom, "CHANGE!"
third, vroooom, "CHANGE!"
fourth, vroooom, "YOU CAN STOP ACCELERATING NOW!"..... "PLEASE!!!!".

She wants one too now. :D

my mrs drives mine everyday for work.............after reading these stories, i might take it back off her!!!

I let my ex drive my old car in a deserted car park once. She didn't manage to get out of 1st gear and I was worried she would have a "moment" and stand on the loud button and stick it into Office World.

ive let my mum drive mine, (suprisingly as i ended up rebuilding my 19 16v engine after she drove it!) when she came and picked me up she said she doesnt like the clutch, and also wanted to know what the kick was at 5000rpm lol

my missus never really gets to drive my car, ( for obvious reasons ), but when I moved recently from North Wales to Surrey she drove it all the way back whilst I was driving the hire van, she is pretty good really, no problems.

  Golf R32 & 172 CUP
lol im insured on the g-friends cup but she isnt insured on my 172!! ideal situation for me i think!!

  172 Cup
I had no choice but insure the missus on my cup as it brought the insurance down. Me 22yrs old - 5 yrs driving, 2 yrs NCB, pass plus etc etc. Her 22yrs old - 6mths driving and bloody awful at that and yet I'm more of a risk than her????????

I let my girlfriend drive my cup cant see the problem with it shes insured she nows the limits of the car , and it also brings your insurance down .

i put my mum and my sister on my insurance to bring it down

my mums drove it twice, both times drivign it home after dropping me off in town to go out on the p*ss

This isn't really sticking up for the girls being good drivers but... my boyfriend let me drive his cosworth... once. I thought because my Cup is pretty quick (or so I thought) that i'd be fine. Put it this way, i'm never, ever EVER allowed to drive it ever again. He will also "have to give serious consideration to the use of his future vehicles!". I even went through multiple scenarios - what if you broke your legs and I had to drive you? - What if the insurance was lower with me on it? - What if.....

He had stopped listening by now and grabbed MY keys to take MY Cup for a spin :(

My wife drives mine better than i can in first gear anyway,i think its the soft touch of a females right foot compared to my big hammer foot, when she pulls away in first it's nice and smooth when i pull away we jerk about all over the place.

Do agree tho she does change up gears a lot earlier. Not a bad thing.

My mrs is insured on my car, she reduced the insurance by loads.

Its mad, shes only 17, and had her lic for 2 months, iv had my license over 2 years and im 19, so how is she less risk on a 182?

I let her drive it sometimes, once took her down the long straight road, she thrashed it up to about 80mph before i shite my myself and told her to slow down. She always wants to drive it now.

I dont let her drive it at the moment, i tell her ' you will loose control in the wet' lol

My mrs has had one go in mine and didn't like it. She found the clutch too heavy and was scared to push the loud pedal! Good thing I guess as she doesn't want to drive it again soon, it scares her! Must admit the tourque steer caught me off guard a few times not long after getting it. Having never driven a hot hatch before hand, was something to get used to! I find it very hard to just cruise in it....

I let my missus drive my trophy a day after i picked it up, she signalled to a woman leaving a petrol station that she could cross the road in her car, then carried on past her! i was expecting to be t boned

LOL, I've never driven a cup, so cant comment on how they are to drive. I've been in my mates 172 and compared to the cossie i have driven its like a different beast. IIRC your bf's cossie is quite nicely tuned. So i can imagine it gave you a fright.

Did it come on boost on a bend of something? that caught me out first time i drove one, lol. I just planted my foot, and steered the car, it stuck to the road like s**t on a stick. Your reactions have to be spot on when driving something like a cossie, lol.

I let my mum drive my car all the time. She is a right girl racer though. She has a mondeo ST24, not the best car in the world i know, but she has a K&N IK on it, and a bluefinn Superchip installed, lol

IIRC her first car was an escort RS2000.

I'd let anyone drive my car as long as they were insured though, its only a car at the end of the day.

I dont think i'd let my brother loose in it though when its wet. As i have a BMW so the rear wheel drive can be a bit crazy at times, and he has already written off a few RWD cars from trying to slide them!

Doesnt bother me who drives my cars i give mine enough stick anyways. Although i did let 2 people drive my clio. 1 thought he would do handbrake 180's in it for a laugh at which point i just about shat myself sat in my passenger seat.

The other she just bitched and moaned the cutch is really hard to push down, the gears are in the wrong place (lift up reverse) and she insisted on pulling away with at least 5000rpm on the clock.

ive let both of my ex's drive my 172 one of them hadnt passed her test!!! so i was very scared letting her drive it but see did ok in it. The other ex has a mini cooper so she could drive it without any problem!!

My mrs is insured on my cup.. although, when i first got it, she drove me home from the pub in it one night...
and pulled away whilst turning into a road pretty quickly (driving it as she does her pug dturbo!) and it kind of scared her to say the least..
Luckily i was a bit drunk, so had a laugh to myself..

and she asn't actually driven it since..
