let's talk DIY matched manifold

I have read many of threads and just want to check what I have gathered...

I plan to use engineers blue to see where needs to be matched! I won't be matching it to the gasket, so I gathered I should put the engineers blue on the lower manifold, and then press together this with the plenum? from this i will see where they meet and what will need removing?
