( ! ) Light popping up on dash when cornering

  Jap Box
Hi,

As of this morning ive been getting the ( ! ) (Hanbrake) light popping up when ive been cornering more enthusiasticly.

Ive recently had the rear drums, cylinders, shoes and adjusters replaced, front brakes are only a month old too.

Anyone else ever had this before? Could it just be down to a bad earth showing the handbrake as being on or is it something different. My oil is also low but I assume this has nothing to do with the ( ! ) light as the oil one doesnt come on with it or any other lights.

Thanks

^^ Indeed... but it's usually down to having low pads/discs.

Check your brakes all around, then check for a fluid leak, then if none of the aforementioned need seeing to, top up the fluid.

Not necessarily low fluid but its the most likely. If there is any sort of small break in the cable that goes from the reservoir cap level sensor (which runs across the back of the engine bay, usually behind the headshields and sound insulation) then it will illuminate the light. If its not a clean break then any any movement in the cable can set the light off intermittently.

AND PAD/DISC LEVELS!!!

That's what mine has been in the past.

Front disc's and pads were changed a month ago and the complete rear brake system was changed 2 weeks ago too so nothing will be worn down on them :)

Hopefully it just needs a top up, trying to see how much fluid is left is a bit of a pain as the fluid resevoir is filthy.

Yeah they do get pretty filthy, just wipe it with a rag and you will be able to see the max level.

Checkd the fluid and its pretty much at the max level. Lookd at the pipes and two of them have what looks to be brake fluid over them, its like green looking and looks asif its burnt onto the pipes. Could that be a leak? Followed a wire going to the back of the engine and some idiot had cable tied it really tight to the coolant pipe which has managed to rub through the rubber casing and through one wire, so ive reinulated the wire now and loosened the cable tie that was holding it up.

Yet to go for a drive and see if the light come on again so ill report back if its fixed :)
