Light Up My Life

  Subaru WRX/BMWe30 Touring

Having recently bought a brand new Clio 172, I decided that my first modification should be to ditch the standard rear lights in favour some lexus numbers (a controversial choice I know but I like them). To that end I purchased a set of lights manufactured by generation3 (think there is a pic of the same ones in the for sale section) which apprently fit mk2s/mk3s.

Thinking it would be 5min job to fit the new ones I took of the old lights only to find that they wouldnt fit. Looking more closely I discovered that the bulb holder for my 2003/53 reg clio is different to the one required to fit the lights. My bulb holder has 4 clips (2 either side top and bottom) to connect to the light whereas the bulb holder required to connect the lexus ones has a clip either side at the bottom and one at the top (in the middle). My car is a parallel important but do not think that this should make any difference as they are all built in the same factory.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know if the bulb holders have been changed on newer clios? Trying to find out if they all are all like that before I return the lights and order another set only to find I have the same problem.

Defo thinking I had the wrong part too but the company I bought them from reckoned they had been fitted to the newer style clios without a wiring kit/different bulb holder. There was no replacement bulb holder or wiring diagram with my lights(will teach me for buying a cheap set I suppose) but they are definitely not gonna fit my existing bulb holders without me getting a bit happy with a hacksaw and some superglue!!!!

Fred2001Dynamic - where did you get ur lights if you dont mind me asking as I am looking for an easy life? Was thinking of trying Prima Racing as they specialise in Renaults so would hope they should be sell some to fit straight on.
