Lightened Flywheel

  Skoda Fabia vRS

eventually i will be replacing my clutch (if i dont get a GTT engine first !)

and while thats bein done i thought it would be a good time to get a lightened flywheel, seems you can get it done for about £50, saw a few adverts in CCC

what difference does it make though, does it add any extra bhp ?.....or does the car just go through the revs faster, and go quicker....like would i get a faster 0-60 etc....?

It will pick up quicker i think. Rev a lot easier, but once your moving it wont make any difference. Also as it revs quicker it will also drop revs quicker when you press the clutch in! I think it will just give some some more initial HP to the wheels to get the car moving quicker! (set off) But I heard it can make parking a bit harder.

But I may be wrong...!

Only if you go to wild on lighting the flywheel!

noone can say how is going to performe unless someone has already on several stages lightened a RT flywheel till wreck.

Some engine tunners (from the earlier R8 Gordini and Arbarth days) would say that between 20%-30% you can light it without compromising shifting, drivability. Get it WELL done... well balanced, dont wont to go "weight excentric" on the flywheel!

more about lower rotational weight, and dynamic balance. It wont do anything major. itll rev ever so slightly faster, but wont do anything really. And alone, kind of a waste. I would get the whole short motor balanced at the same time.
