Im looking for a set of 17" alloys that suit a 2004 clio without being really heavy, i know there are a lot of lightweight alloys around just not sure which ones and where,

Forget that I had been looking at the 16s, there 17s are the wrong PCD for a clio sorry.

Not one that you would notice no.

Switching to SLs will save around 12kg of rotational weight. This is equivalent to removing 25kg of static weight from the car and will impact power/weight accordingly. Reducing unsprung mass will also benefit handling as the suspension has less inertia to overcome.

Rotational weight saving is worth twice as much as static weight, so yes it will make a difference. Rolling radius is also a factor which is why most people don't use 17" wheels.

Not worth going stupid light though and sacrificing durability as our roads aren't the best. Guess OZ SL's are the lightest you should go or Pro Race 1/2s.

Not one that you would notice no.

If you have ver had a bike you would know that isn't true as a lighter wheel is easier to get up to speed which is felt most on an uphill. A car is no different just that its teh engine taking the strain rather than a rider.
