limp mode 172

the car goes in to limp mode when ever the head lights are on turn of the lights and trun of the engeine restart and things are fine also only happens with head light side lights and the cars fine any ideas other than only drive it in day light.????

wiring somewhere, had this on mine and it ended up being the wiring from throttle! Pain in the arse I know...

Had same issue and turned out to be wiring shorting itself out on the block, also was shorting near the throttle pedal. Check all the obvious wiring is covered properly.
