Little/Epic oil leak?!?? HELP!

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Bit unsure as to where its coming from as the back of the block is covered! The little breather hose that goes to the back of the engine keeps coming away (that goes to the bottom of the TB) but its dumping a fair bit and not vapour. Surely that much shouldn't be coming out of it at all :S

Where else could it also be coming from. Its dropping right onto the manifold, not smelling nice and making a lot of smoke!

It happened last night, so checked oil this morning and its still just under MAX. Whats the difference between MIN and MAX on the dipstick? 1 litre?

Yes.

Sadly, that is all I can help you with. :(

You could have too much oil in the engine which is trying to find a way out and that pipe being the way it's escaping? Failing that there must be a pressure build up forcing the pipe off, and seeing as you've also got oil everywhere most likely related...

It slips on and off very easy. I'm going to stick a jubilee clip on it for now and get a catch tank. Surely its not good the oil going into the inlet!?

It still came out when it was below the MAX mark and sat for 9 hours?! It lokos worse than it is as oil is everywhere but going by what Daniel says its only dropped about 0.3 litres?!

If it's dumping out out of the breather hose it usually means the bottom end is fcuked, or well on its way towards being.

if it's breathing it will be piston/ring/bore related (glazed bores/bore wash/cracked ringland), or valve guide and stem seals worn (it's french, they do this)

Got a catch can from a mate today so thats catching what comes out as don't liek it hitting my nice warm manifold!

Waiting on some more prices for rods and bearings tomorrow to start new engine build!

excess crankcase pressure as stated by danny, stock bottom end + boost = fail! F4R's do suffer with oil drain at high rpm anyway, but if its doing it at normal revs (3000-6000) then there something amiss downstairs!! Does it run too rich? Could be something as easy as bore washing!

AFR is fairly spot on, runs lean if anything!

Couple of other people I've spoken to have said cracked ringland. Don't know much history on the engine, usually ran fairly hard, it was bound to happen! Just building forged engine sooner than I though but its not like thats a problem ;)

Now don't start another Mapper Vs. Mapper thread please ;) :)

oil entering the inlet track will dramatically lower octane of the fuel mix, small amounts are fine. the results speak for themselves when this happens.

always run a clio boosted engine into a catch tank not the std inlet.

Got a catch tank setup now. Just cleaned all the oil from the manifold/back of engine. Once dry I'm going to take it out and make sure that was the only place oil was coming from!
