little mods performance

hello all. just after some tips on modding for performance, without spending a bomb.... i have a 172 mk 2. gonna get it lowered for def. also decated. can any garrage do it? does it make a dif? also any other sugestions welcome.

ps. dont want to put the car under to much stress..

best you can do is a search as its been talked about a million times, or read one of the current threads.........gets tiring posting the same thing day in day out.
