Long expo shot of M1

What you think? Its my 1st time using the long exposure.

Taken with the D40.

its good. try finding a spot without any direct lighting, like the lamppost.

you will have different effect and a more strickin effect from the cars

Yeah, very good!

Works much better if you get out in the sticks so there isnt any other light than the cars.

Another, dont like the way this one turned out though, even though I used a tripod and the self timer is still looks a little blured. Its was very windy though.

It was night time

People must have thought I was the Road Tax inspector coz they use that bridge all the time.

Not many use Blue Astra VXR's to do it though.

i tried some long exposure shots recently. They didn't come out well, and i've now realised that you need to use a low aperture. doh

If you've got direct lighting bump the aperture to f16-f22 or more = sparkly lights...

Obviously you will need a much longer exposure to compensate, but that will give you more traffic trails and sky lighting anyway.

I'm intrigued as you said this about my fireworks pics (which to me looked 90% as I saw it), which ones in particular look 'off'? Also which WB settings would you suggest for long exposure night shots?

Most things are bathed in different types and colours of light due to the various different street lighting used around the country/world. My pic above for example, might look strange having a yellow tint to the boats, but that's how they looked.

I particuarly like Ballsie's trails, the colour in the sky and around the signs, trees etc is fantastic.
