Ive HPI'd both of them, and neither have cambelt done, but i have a price of £300 to do that, so ill knock that off the price of the car.

Clonking top mounts on full lock (mine does that ... for now!), engine mounts, corroded Speedlines, manky steering wheels, missing front splitters, shonky 182-style exhaust conversions/bumper cutouts for big backboxes, brakes pulling so hard you nearly crash when you test them (as happened on one I looked at :nono:), CD player not working...

Erm, <blatant plug> buy my buyer's guide in Performance Car...! ;)

i'd go through the usual for a car of this type - crash damage, owner history, servicing, etc; then some of the specifics - like leaky dampers, corroded exhaust, knocking on hard accel (engine mounts - check for gear oil leaks as well), clonking on lock (top mounts). should go well and change gear smoothly, clutch sharp, brakes sharp and easy to lock, shouldn't wander about but will follow cambers, check electrics, etc

Erm, <blatant plug> buy my buyer's guide in Performance Car...! ;)

or just buy that on the way - is it out now? might have a look later

The knocking on full lock is pretty standard, you'd be hard pushed to get money off because of it.

Thanks for the advice, i looked at the first last night.

- felt like and sounded like exhaust was blowing
- had squeak knock from the passenger side (apparently ARB bushes?)
- needed cambelt and Aux belt
- 53000 miles.

Wont knock off any more than £100 - Would be £3900.

Going to see one tomorrow

- 37000 miles
- Ktec Stealth
- Needs cambelt!

Havent seen it yet so thats all i no, anyway, is up for £4300 - ive got it down to £4000 already on the phone - not sure if ill beable to get any more off for the cambelt and stuff now that ive already knocked some off?

  Nothing at the mo :(
My advice is buy on condition, not mileage.

exactly

I had a 45k mileage VTS with full service history. and i kept it well!!!

My mate had one. same year but with 13k mileage.. lets say his now has a new engine due to it being messed up!!
