Looking at a Ph1 172

  Clio 2.0 172
Been to look at a phase 1 172 a couple of times now, once when i was just driving past so stopped but the garage was shut and went back for a proper look when they were open again. Must say it is pretty clean. It's a 2000 on a W plate with 57k miles. Anyway here's a link for pics and spec etc,let me know what you guys think.....(second one down, silver 172)

I would be a bit weary with the damage on the bottom of the front bumper and smashed fog light?

Other than that it looks nice and tidy.

Foglight is going to be replaced if i decide to buy. the deal ive struck with them if i decide to go ahead is 10 months mot remaining,6 months tax,3 months parts and labour warranty, service with belts done, new battery (current one needed to be jump started and when turned off needed to be jump started again to get back into a space but was told alternator etc would be investigated/changed if not the battery),full valet and touch up for an agreed price of £2750 cash instead of advertised £2950

I would question the bumper damage/broken fog cause it could be related and could have been a crash?

like i said apart from that it looks nice and tidy!

Taken on bored! the car really does look nice and straight and the bits of flaked paint are only that couple of areas and is just the paint, nothing actually cracked

It's got nice low mileage for the age, if it's legit, but I'd still say £2750 is over priced, closer to £2k would be my opinion.

From the exhaust, front damage and debadging I'd assume it's been ragged to death. Personally I'd go look at some more before you commit to buying that one, there are cleaner, younger and cheaper models on AT and PH. But it's your money so your choice.

Never really paid the Ph1's much attention before but they have really grown on me and theyre alot of car for the money! Recommend a decent coilover set-up that won't break my back at the same time....might be a problem when i like my cars quite low

Sorry didnt realise the link was of all their stocklist,it's on page 8,third from the bottom

No idea on coilovers! mines just sitting on shocks and springs .. can't afford coilovers atm! :dapprove:

I love my ph1 for the exterior looks, but i prefer the interior on the ph2!

Hasnt been neglected as far as service history. Been serviced regularly and at renault main dealerships or at renault specialist garages
