looking at buying phase 2 172 need some advice asap!

hi, new to the forum but am looking at buying a phase 2 172 and was wondering what to look out for mainly because i'm a girl and don't want the buyer to think they can take the p***. know a decent amount about cars but wanted to know more info on these as don 't want to be paying out for major repairs that could be avoided by buying the right car to start with

Hi hattie21, welcome to ClioSport!

 

[R-Sport.]

Make sure the car has had the cambelt change
Check the service book for stamps & dates
X2 working keys
Check the gear change up & down for crunches
Listen out for the dephaser pulley
check the brakes
check the tyres
HPI check + validate mileage
Listen the exhaust note to hear if its blowing
Listen for knocking- engine mounts / ball joints / roll bar links
Melted steering wheels
Listen for the compressor clink in the engine bay when you turn the engine on
Check both Xenons work
Drive the car lock to lock to see of theres any issues on steering
Check the front bumper for the black inserts - in terms of if its been sprayed

that compressor clink is for the A/C when it goes on

I got it from Somerset which was probably further than you are to Surrey :rasp:

If you want a good one, you've got to strike lucky or travel. The second option is much easier.

it's about the same distance, atm i havent got a way to travel too far, hoping this one local to me will be decent if not then will have to start looking further away i think.
