lost my key should i be worried

Car  monaco 172
Just come out of work and realised I've lost my key, ive got a spare. It could now be in Scotland or Plymouth as they are trains I was going on either way, but I only realised when I got to that car after my days work lol.

Is there any way to reprogram the spare key so the lost key can't start the car or should i not worry ?

any idea how much a new spare is from renault?

so basically theres not alot i can do about it without a new barrel/ecu etc?

About £200 iirc from Renault. Some keymakers do cars but you would have to phone around.

if you are worried you can buy a new key from renault for around £200 i think and that will include coding which will mean the key you lost will no longer start your car.

If you take your car to a renault garage they will be able to programme the UCH so that whoever has your key won't be able to start the car. Obviously they can still get into to the car with the manual key in the NS door lock barrel but they won't be able to start the car or use the central locking

A new key costs approx £180. I can supply a discounted key but it will need coding at your local dealer

thannks for that wests. i aint really got 180 quid on me atm however it is something i will definatly do if i dont manage to get mine back (going to phone around the train companys etc)

So say you supplied me with a discounted key, how much would it cost me at renault to get it reprogrammed so the old key doesnt work?

edit : Actually, so your saying i could go into renault with my current spare key and get it reprogrammed so the old key wont start the car without having to buy a new key for 180?

yeh, tried northern rails and they gave me all the numbers of the station and nothing was found. i then phoned cross country and they put me though to some useless guy in india...

Ahh, was worth a try anyway! Not sure why they'd send you to someone in India though, I doubt he has it :rasp:
