Lost phone, advice Please !!!!!

  Mk1 MX-5 next summer
Right just got home from a night out, mate left his phone in the taxi.

He rang it an insane amount of times and it rang out a few then it went steaight to answer machine. Either the taxi guy robbed it an turned it off or the next punter.

He has insurance that is offered with the contract also.

Are you covered for lost phones or just stolen etc etc.

Whats the best thing to do, claim it was stolen or wat i dont know wat to tell him. We got a private hire cab but it was on the street so we have no number for the company.

Cheers.

phone the police and report it stolen .

phone the service provider , report it gone and they will bar the sim , otherwise he is still liable for calls made .

the police maybe able to trace the whereabouts from any calls made

Tell your mate to look at his policy and find out what he's insured for, that will determine what your gunna claim happened. Make the claim, get a new phone and the network will then block the phone so it'll be unusable in the U.K. Or.... phone the taxi company in the morning and tell them what happened, that is assuming you know which company, car number, what time or the drivers name and even then the chances are slim.

  a thirsty one
check if his insurance covers for loss as basically it was lost in the back of the cab, sorry to hear it happened to your mate, hate it when lose/break a mobile such a pain in arse.

Yeah he phoned them and they are charging him £60 for a new handset which is half the phones value.

We got a random cab unfortunately so no idea which company its been turned off all last night and day so someone had off with it i guess.

Sucks cos we had some mint pictures and videos of our night out aswell haha gutted.

cheers.

  RIP Dan
It can be found if someone is using it.

The IMEI can be grabbed from the network if somone is using it, doesnt matter what sim they use. When his sim is barred they can put their own in and continue using the handset if its unlocked to their network etc. Although his handset may be sh1te and they ditch it.

If they use it you can see them on the network.

They can what landline number calls them alot and its usually their home.

Got em.

Obviously your network need to do this, they may not bother and your mate will have to do an insurance claim.

I do this kind of thing for the cops sometimes.
