As above, it's been happening for a while now. Say I'm travelling at 70mph and brake to around 50 or less, I have an almighty 'droning' noise that goes deeper as the car slows down. Someone said it could be a warped brake disc. Any thoughts? It's only coming from the front N/S and it's not a wheel bearing or anything like that.

Loud droning noise when braking from fast

Do you get shuddering when braking heavily? Or does the pedal feel like its moving up and down constantly when on the brakes?
I get a bit of droning when I haven't used my car for sometime. Bit of heavy braking and it clears.

not changed for drilled or grooved discs by any chance?
probably a bit of pad material stuck to the disc, make a few heavy stops and see if it dissapears

drilled and / or grooved drones....fact of life
I changed from standard discs to drilled and grooved and the same drone that your talking about, so I guess it's down to the groves.

About time you ditched those brake discs lol
Yeah they'll be fine. You'll have to bed the discs in again though so your brakes will be poor until you do.
