Loving my PS3, not just for games

Car  Dirty E91
Hooked up my camera to my PS3 lastnight and watched a slide show of all the pics on there of my 2 baby girls, very easy to use and the pics looked brillant on the TV, also copied up 2 DivX files, worked a treat so simple!

I may not go back to my PC!

Did the same with my holiday pics. Looks fantastic if you have an HD camera, like you are back on holiday again.

plug your pc into your tele even better, more codec compatibility, you can watch hidef stuff you downloaded, play games, watch dvd's, there much better.. can a ps3 put up a powerpoint presentation?! lol

Yeah, never used powerpoint in my life!

As far as I concerned this is a great box, movies, games and pictures, and smaller than my desktop PC upstairs. I still use my PC for COD and the like but for everytihg else it's the PS3 for me!

only playing with you mate, i'm love mine too, was just saying! it's all been done before

Fair do's, sure you can get media players but they cost more than a PS3 and probably aren't as simple to setup either, especially for the "average joe" in the street.

PCs do not belong in the living room imo.

I couldn't disagree with you more on that statement ... but lets not squabble eh.:quiet:

Now that the PS3 plays all my media files I have sold my Archos 605 wifi as it was no longer needed. The quality of playback on my TV from the PS3 is also superior to the Archos.

I just stream everything from my PC upstairs to my TV via Xbox 360 wirelessly. All my movies/music/pics are stored on the PC - instead having disc's lying around. Digitally organised :)

^^ I agree. Streaming from my PC to the xbox over wireless is pretty cool!

Can the PS3 be sync'd to a PC?

Hmm, you could just setup a UPNP folder and access all your media through that..

You could sync if it was running linux but I don't think you could in the Xrossbar OS as such as you would need network access to the PS3's hard drive.. or be able to run code on the PS3.

Is it just me or does the PS3 playback of divx look really grainy? I got my laptop and ps3 hooked up to same tv (Sony Bravia 40").

The laptop plays them really well but then i put the file on the ps3 and play it through there it looks really crap compared to when on the laptop. Is it just me experiencing this? Can i do something to fix it?

No problems at all with DivX playback on my TV via the PS3, it's very clear and sharp and better than the Archos 605 I have previously used.

Can you list the settings you have just so i can set mine to it and try again? Also what setting do you have it on to stretch it to full screen?

Yup, ace isn't it. Big fan of the whole digital/wireless revolution tbh.

Love using Media Centre on my 360. Impresses my non-geek friends lol
