Low Torsion bar

mas

  MK7 GTD & Mini GP
basically, it was raining tonight and have just been out, for you that dont know my car is very low at the rear.... too low i think now. It steps out so easily, im talkin i had to do 15 around roundabouts, maybe less, and it was still twitchy!:S

would that stupidly low torsion bar be the cause? ... it will need to be highered if so, its weeeey to dangerous!

it is slightly lower at the rear to the front to, and isnt the front supposed to be slghty lower than rear?? its really weird, steering is very light when cornering in the wet

hmmm

Front is suppossed to be lower than back otherwise front will feel light.

The rear will be stepping out becuase the brake bias valve will need adjusted...that and the fact your on 10p tyres are your problems i think.

okok i know my tyres are w**k, but using these until they fall to peices and i can gather some money!

how do i adjust the brake bias valve?

thanks

There is no brake bias valve on the 1.4. I've had mine lowered more at the back than the front for months and I've yet to have the rear end kick out on me. It does feel slightly more twitchy at the rear, but not to the extent you have described. It might be worth raising it little to see how it feels then - could be that your shocks are buggered or something?

i think as it is that low at the back, there is just no movement in the suspension... its extremely stiff, so instead of dipping slightly in to a bend, it will just stay level, like a fookin ice skate! lol

i think i will higher the back a touch today to see how it goes...its baffling.

This is how mine is at the moment (though on steelies now) and it doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as yours - so it sounds as though there might be more to it. Best bet would be to try raising it and just see if it's any better .

yeah, my tyres are absolute cack aswell, they will get replaced soon!

what tyres are you running on the steelies?

thanks

165/65/13 Avon tyres. TBH the tyres on the steelies are better than those on the 15's in the wet, I get nowhere near as much understeer when gunning it.

you are running the same profile tyre as me too, my back ones are goodyear iirc, which shouldnt kick out like it does! hmmm
