Lowering a 172

Considering lowering my phase 2 172 by 40mm, I have standard wheels at the moment but was wandering if this would be a bit too much? I dont want to go too low and end up with scraping probs or anything, is 40mm acceptable?

40mm is about as low as you can go without arch work on a 172. Look in the gallery and find JillyBs car - I think its 40mm.

cut the springs or just remove them they aint needed anyway

Couldnt find jillybs car in there, saw yours tho and thats 30mm isnt it? That looks about right for what I would want, its just that there are some 40mm ones in the for sale section that I was thinking about..
