Lowering Drivers seat in 172

Is their anyway to lower the standard drivers seat in a Mk2 172. I've heard of some people removing the spacer washers. Does this work?

Are they not height adjustable like the dynamique seats? I've got a lever on the left hand side that you pull up and can adjust the height of the seat.

I dont think you can get it lower. Which is a shame as I think it really detracts from the driving experience.

I have finally bit the bullet and bought a cobra suzuka just for the drivers seat. Still gives access to one seat in the back but hopefully will be a descent drop useing Cobras extra low subframe.

  cock mobile.
Why one of the tuning companies hasn't made and produced some sort of custom lowering frames I don't know.

Must be a load of people that want to just lower the standard seat that bit more!

It will be, i did it on mine and was a huge improvement. You will need to mod some plastic parts to fit the superlow subframe if you need any advice Mark give me a shout.

OK will do.

Cheers Loony.

I'd asked this before too (being a bit of a lanky git) and the general response was that there's no way around it. It's probably the main thing I'd be willing to spend mone on on my car... (apart from coilies ;) )

But I'd be very interested if someone produced modified subframes that allow the standard seat to go lower. I don't know if a subframe from an aftermarket seat company (like the Cobra extra low subframe) could be modified safely to accept a standard CS seat? I'm not really interested in aftermarket seats as I don't do track driving and want to keep the standard appearance.

tbh you arent going to get much lower or further back with any other option. I'm 6ft3 and i found the sazuka's with custom low frames with the side mounts as low and far back pretty much spot on tbh.

:( I just had a quick seat in a Trophy tonight (cheers Trophy_wife) and the Recaros give a nicer driving position without the full-on aftermarket looks. And now I want some...

Wish I wasn't skint now.
