Lowering Issue: Gearbox oil leak

  Extreme MK3 2006
Hi,

This saturday I installed some lowering springs on my Clio MK3 Exteme 1.2 Petrol. I removed the drivers side strut and let the hub assembly rest and all was good however, when I did it to the passenger side, oil began to trickle out of the gearbox. I pushed the hub back into place and the trickle stopped. Should I get this problem professionally addressed? Has anybody had a problem similar to this?

Thanks

Yas

How much oild did you lose?

It's normal for oil to leak out if you pull the driveshaft out, as long as you didn't lose loads I wouldn't worry. If a substantial amount leaked then it wants topping up.

I reckon just under 100ml came out. I bought some oil anyways and i'm gonna top it up. Do you think everything is back to normal, in terms of security. I dont want anything falling off whilst I drive haha.

If the shaft is back in place then yes, it'll be fine.

The Passenger shaft isn't secured in place so it is easy to pull it out of the gearbox (as you found out!) But as long as you've bolted it back together properley it'll be fine!
