LY Clio 197 F1

Knuckles

ClioSport Admin
Projector headlights would be nice, Cup spoiler is a no unless I get another LY boot and I would like to fit the RS bumper splitter but I dont want to start drilling, clipping and gluing stuff on.

Yeah, they may be a no no as both the spoiler and splitter require holes in the boot and bumper sadly :(

Well just a very small update regarding the finer things for the LY.

I recall many years ago I wanted a sticker that I hunted for and even my dealers could not get as no part number for it.

I managed to get one after months of looking for my Clio 182 Trophy.

Now that I have the Clio 197 I noticed the sticker had vanished also which is does over time due to wiping it and it fading so I went down the long road and channels and ended up getting a couple of replacements and they are Genuine items.

That is very cool, can imagine they were a mission to get!! Never seen a replacement one myself, so glad the one in my 182 is still in great condition!

Here is my spare trophy one, Not the best of printing but the are genuine.

Will drop you a PM shortly when I get 10 mins to myself.

Some more work carried out on the Clio.
Took the rubber off round the boot and cleaned all that along with the rear lights and everything else that was in there, Once again I managed to use the X5 Steam mop with is amazing for doing this sort of stuff.

I'm interested in removing & cleaning the rear rubber from my 182. Is it simply a process of taking your time and being gentle with it? Or did you use any specific tools?

Cheers,
D.

Another small update from the weekend.

Managed to fit genuine front discs / pads and pin kit and while doing that I found something that was bad.
Brembos are screwed, So today (Monday) I bought two new front brembo callipers from Renault and its booked in later this week for them to be replaced with a brake fluid change.

So once again another update on the LY

Thanks to SWR (Striling) as they have done an amazing job on the car with all the work and making how I have wanted it.

Well the two rear nuts on the standard 197 diffuser at the back where seized and snapped, Thankfully the guys at SWR fixed all that with taking the brackets off and putting two new bolts on them with fresh washers and nuts.

Getting the old 197 diffuser took 30 secs if that and was really easy to do.
My main concern was having a full Miltek system and that the tail pipes would not fit or rattle inside.

Anyway it was worth a shot and it paid off all be it its "TIGHT" and I mean very tight.
I have had the 200 diffuser on for a good number of days and put it through some hard work trying on purpose to get it to rattle, Speed bumps, Rumble strips, Twisty B roads & Gravel tracks and not one squeak or rattle at all.

Love the attention to detail

Can't help notice the passenger side door/rear quarter, had paint? Stands out in most pictures?

Also never been a fan of the 200 diffuser. I ran one on my 197 cup as I had an aprakovic but sold it on as I never got on with the looks

Id have gone with satin black sleedlines too

Didnt you fancy a liquid yellow 200 with cup packs?

Car looks great!
Got the car cheap cheap so I can't complain

Looking at the car in pictures and I person it is crazy but the paint depths all match as it's going in for warranty work from renault and they check all that and as fair as they are aware the car ain't been painted

Well its been a long time so thought I would give this a small update.
Car has been running well with no issues and I have been collecting parts like they are going out of fashion.

Managed to collect and get two full hits second hand.

Then got them vapour blasted to have them looking fresh like the engine parts.

Bought new upper ball joints from RSports who are the official ClioCup parts supplier.

AVQSiic.jpg

The tailgate then went into Renault to be fully replaced and painted under Renaults Anti Corrosion warranty.
It did however take them near on 7 months to get this done as a few tailgates arrived damaged at the dealership and then the tailgate went back order.

After waiting 7 months Renault then gave me a £400 voucher to spend on parts or servicing at any dealership of my choice so I bought the following.

2 x Bottom arms with ball joints
1 x Clutch Kit
1 Slave cylinder

Next up was to change the FIA sticker that I have had for months.

Next think I wanted to do was change my alloy pedals on the Clio as they where worn very badly.
I have since done all 3 pedals and not just the clutch and brake.
Drilled the old pedals out, Cleaned them up with a wire brush, spray painted them with black hammerite and then put new
pop rivits on with some black tiger seal.

Then bought some more parts for the suspension rebuild in the form of front ARB bushes.

HaNuzOC.jpg

Then managed to get my hands on a lot of new trim panels that where still in the Renault OE wrapping and change them over.
Still have a lot to do but its just not been the weather for it.

Top Shock Nut x 2
Top Mount Bearing Nuts x 6

So next up I had to get some parts for the 197 Hubs and carriers and as most MK3 people are aware renault do not sell things on there own and they try and sell you the whole hub at around £400 a side.
As im replacing every nut and bolt and parts that are truly needed the other place that will and can sell them on there own in RSports and as said they can do this as they are the official ClioCup race car genuine parts supplier to the race series.

Did you find the part number for the stick with the VIN number etc? If so fancy sharing as I'm after a new one for my Clio.
