M-Factory diff, drive shaft questions and general frustration.

Good evening all

I recently fitted my car with a refurbished 'box with a brand new m-factory diff in it, crown wheel was welded into place and all seals and bearings were done at a cost of £800.

All was perfect until Saturday and I lost drive to the n/s wheel whilst on a track day in the afternoon. No warning, no bang, no crunch or anything, it sounded like I'd missed a gear until I'd stopped and sussed it out. Jacked the car up in the paddock and the wheel could move forwards/backwards in my hands with the other wheel on the floor. Bugger. The wheel freely spinning is the one not being driven.

After removing the shaft from the gearbox there were no signs of anything going wrong, no visible metal damage and the diff locked up as usual once I'd bolted everything back in place.

Skip forward to today and I topped the 'box up with oil and drove the car, same thing has happened again!

My questions are A - has this happened to anyone before? Any pointers on what it could be? B - do I have the wrong shaft fitted? (changed 6 weeks or so ago for a second hand one, my car is a non-cup and I believe that shaft was from the same sort - is there a difference between them?) C - is my diff knackered? Shaft spins along with the hub, and there are no strange noises, so I don't believe it is.

Hope someone can help!

TIA

Can you keep us posted, looking to order the m-factory diff in the next few weeks. Apart from that issue how have you found the diff?

These aren't much cheaper than a Quaife then really.

£795 for the diff, £78 for yoke plate and £120 for pure to fit the crownwheel. £993 total.

£1030 for a Quaife 🙈

Do you get the yoke plate with the quaife diff? and quaife don't charge for crownwheel machining?
