Evo FQ400 :cool: The daddy, nothing comes close unless you are in a murcielago, even tg tested that. I was taken out in an m3 and was expecting more, bit dissapointed to be fair but some obviously see the attraction.

If you want a car that 'feels' quick get a diesel!

Topgear is 5% fact, 95% clarkson. Quite simply bolloks.
The 400 is special, but there's still lots of cars that could take it on!

Show it a wet b road with average drivers however and there's very little that will keep with it.

E46 wise, it's all about the CSL. What a car, insanely quick. Then there's the noise, utter brilliance. Best BMW I've ever been in (to date.)

It's a monster, I'd love the carbon airbox on mine but I can't justify that sort of money for some noise!

Better than judging with no knowledge altogether. I think people are quick to slate Evos/Imprezas for being "chav" and never been in either, never judge a book by its cover...

If everyone drove bmw/audi the world would be boring, but it looks it could turn that way in fear of being a chav it seems

I could count on my hand the ammount of decent evo's/scoobs ive seen in the last 12 months,most are very chav tbh.

The decent ones are expensive and rare,but there are hundreds that give them a bad name...

I love rare cars, but it's totally unfair to compare the top of the range limited fq400 to the standard M3...
It should be compared with the CSL if anything.

If we're going down that road, the csl spanks the evo in all departments! Performance, no, but I wouldn't have thought there would be much in it.

The jap saloons are good at going fast, that's about it. The m3 is an incredible all rounder, which is also it's downfall

Are you joking? Ali said that the M3 is better than any jap car, IMO i dont think it is. I wasnt comparing anything to anything i was just saying i think the 400 is a better car than an M3 for me. The M3 is the top of the range for the 3 series's, well the 400 is the top of the tree for the Lancer 8's, isnt it?

Also, how are jap saloons only good at going fast? Its a 4WD rocket ship with 4 doors and cup holders, ergo more family friendly should you so require, i really cant see how its "only" good for going fast.

I don't see why there is an argument about it, its not what this thread was for. The verdict on this debate has been done many-a-time by a ton of car magazines, where the M3 always ends up on top as the better all-rounder. You've either never picked a magazine up, or are blinkered.

No, the m3 isn't the 'top of the range 3 series', the csl is.

Ok I will rephrase, jap cars only excel in performance, everything else is average at best. Cheap tacky interiors, thin paint, and most people think they're boy racer cars from the fast and furious, fantastic if you're trying to impress 12 year olds.

These cars are totally different and should not be compared so we'll leave it there!

very nice chris. i would of thought the m3 was the 'top of the range' as the csl is more of a side-line car for track goers etc because i was under the impression the standard m3 has everything available but the csl didnt?

True, I see your point, but in terms of performance it's the one to have. Even in the stripped out csl it's got just as much equipment as an evo lol.

Was a lovely weekend for the M! Fun times were had in the dry :cool:

drove it to Torquay from Manchester

What a drive

his was silver too, how anyone can be dissapointed by the drive of an m3 is lying about going in one
