nice car, not a fan of silver personally i think its a bit bland but thats my opinion. you wont regret getting it i have had mine for 2 years now and loved every minute of it.
did you get the floor checked out for the infamous cracking? most of them do it and bmw will repair it for free if its under 10years old and unmodified.
if yo havent had it checked i would strongly advise having it checked asap as if you end up footing the bill your looking at 4-5k.
im not trying to scare you just trying to save you some money in the long run :)
mine has just been done and you cannot even tell :)

It's all been checked for subframe cracks and it's perfect, cheers for the warning though!

That things been for sale ages! It was for sale when I was selling mine, and that was 2 cars ago!

Just prepare to be ill when you come to sell it.

There's an 04 on 62k here for £10500...

lol, I've had it about 6 months or so now, it sold within 2 weeks of it being at the dealership.

Your second point is totally irrelevant mind, there's always going to be cheap cars about, it all comes down to the condition etc. I'd always rather pay a slightly higher price for something mint than pay bottom dollar for a dog.

Just honest advice. Mine was a t**t to sell and it was mint.

Nice car. Not a great colour! Steel Grey was the nicest colour for them imo! Think they stopped them in 2002?

Had to laugh at some of the comments regards the colour, quite a lot of silver haters out there!
Silver was actually my top choice, reflects the light and shows great contrast, really suits the car. I have to admit, I find the grey boring! It's a little bit try hard with the csl too!

Looks fab mate, great colour aswell. Suits the whole shape.

Thanks mate, I think so too! The other colours don't do huge amounts for me. Carbon black isn't very nice at all in person, pheonix yellow is far too max power, and blue doesn't suit the M3 imo.
Alpine white looks good, but does seem to age the car! Jet black and imola red are nice though.

Fair enough, just seemed a bit of a pointless post lol.

I think people are put off by the running costs tbh, I don't find it too expensive, did you?
Saying that, I did have to shell out far too much for the tyres which stung a little bit!

I like the silver, miss mine some days. Just the insurance is mental. Running costs bar the insurance wern't too bad tbh, well not for what you get!

There uber quick though and they do everything very well!

No accounting for taste, clearly. Carbon Black is a stunning colour! But each to their own on that front.

Running costs...lol. Wait a while! You've only had it five mins!!

I guess yours is carbon black ? Lol

I do like the z4ms, is yours standard?

Nice machine. I like the colour. "Don't listen to the haters" lol.

You're mental though. Could have got an M3 for that money. Oh hang on. Err.

its an m3 who cares what colour it is, you cant see what colour it is when your driving it anyway, luckily for you ;) :) well i cant as im only 3ft tall
parts/servicing can be stupid money if you take it to the wrong places, i had a headgasket done on mine which cost £960 all in which i thought was bloody good as imagine it wouldnt cost much less for a regular car, my brother took his alpina b3 for a headgasket doing and that cost him £2800 for effectively the same job so be carefull some people see the bmw badge and want to have your pants down.
no matter what you will love the car as they might not be the fastest machine out there but they are a great alrounder and do everything very well every day with no dramas like alot of other similar power/speed cars cough cough evos/subarus
ENJOY!!!

Why do Evo's and Subaru's cause drama? Surley 4wd and the same/more power is going to be the same or less?

Yep! Swirls like a mudddafcukaaa!

Aye, pretty much. CSL's, Eibachs (Worth getting btw) Took the M badges off as they looked messy. It's getting resprayed soon, paints fcuked after numerous hoons! No need to mod it, it's nice and quiet and i don't like the sound of aftermarket exhausts on them and i refuse to spend a grand on a Gruppe M, which loses 5bhp roughly.

Only think i may consider doing is fitting aero skirts. (Circa £300)

When I say less dramas I mean they don't break down as much and don't feel as hectic behind the wheel, the m3 doesn't really feel that quick yet get in a similar powered eve/Subaru they feel alot more aggressive and you know your in a quick car whereas the m3 really doesn't let you know your in a quick car until you look at the speedo.
Probably all down to the way it's been built, comfort, speed, handling, looks and reliability. Subarus/evos only do speed and handling well IMO
My m3 is being sold :( time for a dirty diesel

True, they're not the fastest thing on the road these days but they still command a lot of respect. In reality, they're probably about the same or not much different to a mk2 focus rs.
It's not all about the straight line speed though...There's no denying its a big car, so it's not as 'chuckable' as an RS clio or 106 gti (which I miss!), but the response, balance and grip of the thing truely shocks me at times! The brakes could be better though.

The thing which I like most about it, is that I'm learning more and more about it the more I drive it. You have to completely change your driving style compared with fwd hatches etc otherwise you'll end up in a hedge next to a gti6 and s2000, but once you crack it, it's addictive!

I've driven my ol' mans scooby sti hawkeye, and it does feel quick once on boost (the turbo lag annoyed me straight away), but in reality the M3 would show it a clean pair of heels. M3 has a very linear power curve and good build quality and as you say, it's deceptive!

It's swings and round abouts though, I think I find it far too refined for what I use it for. If it were a daily, it would be perfect, but for me it's an occasional evening and weekend car, so sometimes it doesn't quite tickle my balls. When you're bouncing off the red limiter it's excellent, obviously, but when you're driving sensibly, it's well...very sensible!
If the e46 M3 had 200kg weight loss it would be truely epic, the csl is a little bit epic but still slightly too heavy imo.

I'll probably end up with a trophy or something next as I'm actually saving to buy my own house, but you've gotta live ;)

As said, any questions just ask. Tinternet is full of rubbish so hear it from a real owner

BMW M > Jap-cars :rasp:

Goes without saying!

Almost.

Yeah but a BMW looks good. You look respectable. Can turn up to meetings or whatever and to most it's just a BMW.

Turn up in an Evo/Subaru and you look like a chav.

Only chavs make Subaru's and Evo's look chavvy.

I dont know what the situation is down your neck of the woods but ive by far and away seen many many more arseholes/neds/chavs in M3's/330/335's than any Evo/Scoob.

No amount of degenerates can take both Mitsubishi & Subaru's rallying heritage away.

Yeah, chavs buy BMW's down here too.

But put a suit on and get out of a BMW = businessman. Put a suit on and get out of a Subaru = the accused.

Suppose. Maybe its just me but an Fq400 is far more appealing to me personally as there are probably about 600 M3's to every one Fq400 built, i have penchant for rarity

Love it bud! Silver's such a good colour choice for it IMO, makes it almost subtle but classy.

Danny - a guy down my road had an FQ400 for a few months, but apparently it was a PITA to live with day-to-day. He's just sold it for and E46 M3, lol! Was an awesome car, mind; made my mates 300 seem rather tame...

Im not slating the evo,the pedigree and rally heritage is awsome.Just that for me the bmw has it for style class and general looks..

I love rare cars, but it's totally unfair to compare the top of the range limited fq400 to the standard M3...
It should be compared with the CSL if anything.

If we're going down that road, the csl spanks the evo in all departments! Performance, no, but I wouldn't have thought there would be much in it.

The jap saloons are good at going fast, that's about it. The m3 is an incredible all rounder, which is also it's downfall

It depends on your circumstances mate.
Personally, I'd love a 535 or 535d, pop some sexy split rims on there, black kidney grills, give it a cheeky remap and you've got one hell of a car.

For me though, it would be ridiculous to get a car that big! But if I had 2 sprogs and a dog I would have a 5 series on the drive no question.

For me, the m3 is plenty big enough. The seats are electrically adjustable and you can adjust pretty much everything on them, even inflating of deflating the side bolsters which is a nice touch.
Lots of room in the back for 2 adults too considering it's a coupe. Even with the passenger seat right back my bro was in he back and commented on how much space there was!
