Re: ISSUE WITH THE UP BUTTON!

I'd say that's an issue with your keyboard language.

I've seen it do all sorts of madness.

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS!

LOL. That's messed up. Genius Bar mate.

I'd think it was a language issue, but you've checked that. Stumped.

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS(INC. CAPS LOCK)

Boot into single user mode (command+S when the machine is turned on).

Try the ] and [ keys. If they appear as normal then something is broken in your OS X installation. Archive and reinstall time.

If they behave funny, I'd say you've developed a hardware fault.

Type reboot once you're done to restart the computer.

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS(INC. CAPS LOCK)

Definitely sounds like a hardware fault to me. The Genii should sort it.

How old is it? If it's over a year, do you have applecare?

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS(INC. CAPS LOCK)

If it's under a year they'll fix it FOC.
If it's over a year and you have Applecare they'll fix it FOC.
If it's over a year and you don't have Applecare, they shouldn't fix it FOC, but they have been known to if it's a manufacturing defect etc...

Doubt it, sounds like it's suffered from an ever worsening hardware fault.

I'd expect the power button to at least bing if there was any life in it.

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS(INC. CAPS LOCK)

I have tried everything I can find to fix it on the internet to no avail. I am booked in to the Genius bar tomorrow, so I really hope they either fix it quick or give me another one. I can't really be doing without a laptop for a prolonged period of time. I'm going away in a week too and I'd like to take it with me :(

Re: ISSUE WITH THE SOME BUTTONS(INC. CAPS LOCK)

I don't think the PRAM contains any information relating to the keyboard layout or configuration. It certainly never used to, and the PRAM does less nowadays than it did back in the pre-OSX days.
You could maybe try resetting the SMC instead to see if that helps with the power on issue, but I doubt it as I'm pretty sure your MBP has developed a hardware fault. If your power button doesn't respond, I can't see how you'd be able to do that anyway.

On another note, you're a mod. Can't you edit the thread title so that it makes sense? :p
