Machine Polish windscreen??

Probably a really silly question. I have a few scratches/marks on my windscreen.

I'm guessing it wouldn't do any harm to go over it with the Rotary and using a yellow menz pad and relevant polish (85re or whatever I have..the least cutting one)

Wont touch it. You need some stuff called cerium oxide, and some felt pads, i got mine from ebay. Takes time to do it though.

Can you even make a dent in glass scratches by hand? not got a polisher and I'm sick to death of the scratches on my windscreen.

I dont think so, I used Autoglym Glass Polish to remove some rain marks on my windscreen once but i would never use it to try cut away scratches.

No Dan still not sold it. Went to cineworld last night though (parked at KFC) and left it in a place where people could see. Has 2 calls asking price, then went to ASDA and had a phone call there too.

Won't hold up much hope.

de-cat was a c**t! Couldn't get the front lambda out so got cit-ren guys to do it whilst they did my driveshaft. £30 to take it off and fit the old one and that included 2 new lambda's quite good I thought.

Machine polishing - there are kits on Polished Bliss.

Or do what I'm doing. 8 years of Audi "washing" = masses of marring. Spoke to Autoglass, one claim, 70 quid excess, all windows replaced. Done.

I do have a chip in it and wanted to get it replaced...but insurance was only done in April and the guy told me to wait a couple of months otherwise it looked dodgy.

I think il go insurance route. Don't need anymore products!

Separate from your normal insurance Richy mate, so wouldn't worry personally. But do check the excess. I failed to when my windows were smashed in Leeds for my Spaz Nav. 150 quid

Does it effect your NCD JD ?

Might merk mine sometime and just pay the excess.

I know it's separate it just what the guy from greenlight sugested.

Toby mine doesn't make any difference to claims. Think it's £50 excess for a windscreen but it won't effect normal insurance.

No doesn't affect NCB. But there are different rates. Windscreen on mine is £70. Sides are £50. But it's a one off claim, so you don't accumulate i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6 windows. My charge for front, rear and four sides is £70.

some require you to go to specific windcreen fitters so make sure you go to the right one - for example if I went to say rac windcreens I would only get £100 towards it would have to pay the difference.

Run the PC over mine with a SFX-1 pad and some AG Glass polish - got rid of loads of marks and made it a LOT easier to apply Rain-X too
