Machine Polisher

  Insignia SRi
Im thinking of getting one as Im really getting into the whole detailing thing.

Are they worth it and what ones to go for??

Can you use ordinary megs/autoglym polish and waxes with them or is it best to go for the good stuff??

A lot of threads on this already mate, best off searching.

I have had a porter cable (PC) for quite a while now. Love it, always use it for polishing.

There are several types now, with some people prefering certain makes.

Again, polishes are very personal and you need to try them out, see which suits you best. I use Menzerna Intensive and Final Finish/Super Resin Polish.

Depends on what job you want to do.

You can still use polishes like autoglym SRP with a PC if you wanna play safe, infact so I'm told it gets the best out of it. You could also use it as a finishing polish after using something more abrasive, i.e. Menzerna

If you want to remove swirls/scratches then something from Menzerna/3M would be good

Personally I'm opting for the Kestral DAS-6 when it's back in stock somewhere, with the Megs kit. It will possibly get used twice a year on my own car and then, if they are lucky, once on my families two cars. So I don't see the point in me paying more TBH. Plus I've read some good reviews about it and standard 3 pin UK plug = WIN.

I'd assume i4D and CYC will both be getting them in stock when possible.

The Kestrel DAS-6s are due in end of this month. No fixed date as yet as they need to clear customs etc. We have secured a large amount of stock from the next batch and are currently accepting pre-orders.

In short yes they are worth it. Couldn't believe the difference after I did my 182 with my G220!
It does take a VERY long time to do even a small car like a clio, so be prepared for a ruined back if you get one!

Had a go of the machine polisher that I got delivered during the week and WOW!!!!!

I knew it was going to be a full day doing it so me and a mate on here did my 172 and his 182 together. Did the lot, wash, clay, polish and seal.

My Iceberg 172 ended up looking like it was brand new the shine was unbelivable using SRP followed by EGP used with the machine polisher.

My mates 182 is in black and the paintwork was a bit battered with swirls but the shine we had off that was even better with it being a dark colour. Am looking forward to more detailing now, so much so I even offered to do my old girl's red TT tomorow!!!!

You be amazed even more if you use a proper 'machine type' polish like Menzerna etc.

SRP is good, but Menz final finish is awesomely good!
