Major steering/wheel/suspension issue

  Evo 6, E92 320d
Basically at random speeds i get a violently shaking steering wheel, as though the wheel is unbalanced, its not because they were balanced not long ago. Sometimes it happens at high speed, sometime at low and it really feels like i have no real control. Ever since i have got this car the steering has felt light in comparison to my last clio. It has what looks to be cheap lowering springs on it(bumpy ride) on std shocks, passenger side shock makes a squelching noise if i compress it by hand(is this normal).
I have thought maybe my wheel is buckled, so i have changed it over, i have not ruled this out yet as i will test it thoughroly tomorrow.
So any help, advice or experience in this case would be a real help.
