Making a track car....?

  DCI100
I've seen quite lot of people on here building track/track days cars which aren't full on race cars but sorta a half way between, is there an amateur league they pay money to race in specifically for clios, or a people just building these cars for there own enjoyment and to see how fast they can go?

Questioning this because I considering building a 172 engine :)

Some preople are building track cars which are taken to track days to drive, others are building race cars for various different race series - these is no real ameture league matey

Track days are fun no matter what car you're in mate, I started track days in the 90's in a 998cc 1983 Mini lol

I've just got one as a bit of a project. Initially it'll be just trackdays, so not going too extreme. Hopefully after a house move, another child and a few more years I'd love to enter some sort of competition if funds allowed. Maybe some sort of hillclimbing...

as i was just saying in there... the car looks tidy now :) but as i'm getting a new car its time to make it go fast.... one of the technicians at work (experienced racing engine builder) wants me to go the full hog with a 172 engine but thats a little to much money...

ps my car had a bad start but has smartened up alot since :)

Look into trackday trophy series as mentioned already. MSV run it. They own five tracks. Oulton Park , Cadwell, Snetterton, Bedford, Brands Hatch. Motorsportvision.co.uk
I use my 172 for trackdays and fast road. I've done 15 trackdays since I bought it three and a half years ago and have added bits as I've gone along. It's got standard engine that was remapped last week, green cotton air filter in 172 airbox, K Tec engine mountings, Powerflex dogbone bush, engine damper, Brembo HC front discs and Ferodo DS 2500 pads all round, dot5.1 brake fluid, braided brake lines, and Toyo Proxes R1-R tyres and Scorpion cat back stainless exhaust. The car absolutely flies.
