Makro 182 Offer

Hi All,

Dont know if this has been mentioned but Makro have been offering, through Virgincars.com, Clio 182s for a whopping 9959 INC VAT. Now I phoned up today, after getting the brochure off my mate to confirm the offer.

They quoted me a price of 12501 OTR, telling me that there was a misprint on ALL leaflets sent out in the Makro Mail Wk 17 supplement.

Does anyone know where I stand legally on this matter?

Dave.

if its a missprint its a missprint.

they have informed you and the price will change.

If there is a clause in the small printy that says that prices may change wihtoutn notice etc they are covered.

But as far as im aware if an item is adversited at a certain price they legially have to sell it at that price, the internet is an exception to this tho

it says prices are correct at time of going to press.

so they are covered.

they do not have any legal responsibility to sell you the car at the price printed in the leaflet, because it was just an "offer to sell" the car.

These prices are only an invitation to treat. They are not offering a contract at that price for you to accept.

When you go to buy that car you are asking them to agree to making a contract with you at that price and they have every right to refuse or accept the offer.

I thought all the Clios they sold at Makro were UK cars except for the 182 which is an import? That was a few months ago so it may have changed now.

I havent done any calculations, but normally the prices from Makro / Costco and most wholesale suppliers, are quoted without the VAT so maybe the difference (OTR price) could be the VAT plus the road fund licence!
