manifold matching 172

  Clio Sport xxx
Not done it myself, but plan to do so for sure amung other things. Do a search for it on here, plenty of info. Angelworks do it for £180 - probably one of the best mods you can do in terms of punch for your dollar.

i dont think it would id ask gdi or renault engine builder as theres a lot to be had playing around with the lenghts

the exact problem is actually the inlet manifold being a poor match to the inlet ports, but its been a while since i last read up on this so forgive me.

The new range of Renault sport vehicles respond fantastically to flow enhancing modifications. As standard the cylinder heads are CNC finished, which delivers fantastic repeatability for a mass produced cylinder head, or rather, they got cheap on the casting qualities. Either way the cylinder head has a constant size inlet, but the batch cast inlet manifolds vary greatly from average to appalling. Over the last 2 years AWT has developed a flow profile which provides an astonishing gain for such an outdated modification technique. The emphasis on development is because it is more than a mere matching but a complete reworking of the tight radii bends to keep flow from shearing and separating around what is a very long curve. Parallel flow is essential to prevent turbulence and the wasting of energy before you reach the head if you cannot keep distance a constant on runner floor and roof. For this reason the AWT modified inlet manifold is unmatched among competition.

depends completely on the quality of your current renault one. people with 182's tend to find a small improvement. on my ph1 i noticed a massive difference as my oe one was quite terrible.

as above is it worth it??
what will i gain??
how much is it normally??

cheers

Is it worth it? Thats the hardest question as I don't know the answer.
You could gain upto 8 bhp, so I was told by a tuner. Earlier cars gain more as the castings are poor and the size is smaller intenally, 182's have the RS logo'd inlet and the last few 172's...like my 04 172.
Cost at AWT is around £200 DIY or £250 fiited, this is on an exchange basis.
