masking the lip of a alloy

i wanted to do something similar with my oz superturismos "the outline ring effect"

what's the best way of doing this.. as im not sure if masking it using masking tape would give a perfect ring shape effect

You can get some special tape for doing this type of thing, It's fine so can be layed in most shapes and doesn't alloy the paint to seep under it, i've the paint chap my dad uses using it for some pretty detailed work, otherwise you thought of actually taping the border on? Motorboke shops usually sell coloured rim tape
