max power for a 172 cup

a friend of mine at uni is having his 172 cup chipped and some other bits done, what sort of bhp will he get from it.

he told me it would be over 200 bhp but i didnt beliveve him, am i wrong??

he wont get 200BHP from a chip and other breathing mods !! remember not all 172s start with 172 BHP !!!!

it is highly unlikely he will break 200 bhp. This would require serious headwork (cams, flowed/ported head, throttle bodies etc). it isnt impossible with the correct work, but your mate wont break 200 with basic mods.

If you go by the figures that the manufatures put on their tunning products then he may we believe that he will get over 200Bhp (K&N= 12bhp Chip=15BHp etc)

In the real world it is total bollox. Get him to put it on the rollers before and after the mods, and then point and laugh when he only gains 10 BHP max!!
