Megane/Scenic - slightly O/T

couldnt really find anywhere else on the forum to put this up, in here seemed most appropriate.

anyway, today I was working on a Scenic at work, gave it a sponge wash then a blast with the pressure washer, then another blast with fresh water.

dried it off, polished it, went to put some "bumper gel" on the black/grey plastics to give them a shine.

anyway, on the grey plastic insert on the rear bumper (grey plastic that the number plate screws into, if you know where I mean) anyway, I notice that theres like "runs" down the grey plastic, like runs of water that havent been dried off, so I touch it and the grey plastic is dry, its kinda like water has ran down it but dried in and stained a water run mark into the plastic which I cant get rid of,

then discussing it with my mate who has a megane coupe cabrio, he says he washed his car and his grey plastic moulding on his rear bumper also has run marks that just look like theres water ran down the bumper in lines the way water does run down but again his moulding feels dry and he cant get the run stain/mark to go away

so was just wondering, is there something we've done wrong to cause these run marks to appear (all we both did was, sponge wash the car, pressure wash it with soapy water, then pressure was again with clean fresh water to rinse the car off) or is this a common problem with the grey plastics on the current shape megane/scenics.

cheers
