metal sounding exhaust

  1.8 8v RSi
car just had its MOT done and they had look at my cat which was coming away from center box. kwikfit told me the connection part was warpped so wouldnt bolt up tight enough to stop the hissing sound completely so i would need a new cat. took it to my local garage they said i didnt need one n sealed up the gap. thing is now, the hissing sound has stopped and been replaced my a horrible metally sound when u accelerate. it sounds nothing liek the system used to. what should be done?
concidering buying a new cat n seeing if that helps. also the reason it started hissing was cause i knocked it hard on a speed bump. so im wondering if the manifold has come loose to(as i seem to have a slight noticable power loss.)

I had the exact problem with my RSi a metallic grinding noise when your foot is down..

Check your down pipe seal (can be a b**ch to titen correctly)

bracket that holds the manifold

And the packing on your exhaust hasnt been blown out?

ye my exhaust sounds wierd aswell. just had new centre box fitted but seem to have a lot of noise coming from the front passenger side. Its worse when cold and does my head in but given up as cant find nothing

i know it has to be the exhaust somewhere long the line.
up to the cat its a powerflow custom side exit.
accordnig to quickfit the cat is warpped at the joins and would need a new cat
so took it to local garage to get it done cheaper and they said they can repair it without replacing the cat. they did. and sounds even worse now.
